In 2004 Waterbuck Safaris started out by providing transport services and car rentals after considering the soaring demand for reasonable and reliable transportation in Dar Es Salaam, which up until 2004 was extremely cumbersome. We were successful at this and then decided to create a tour and safari company. We wanted to provide Tanzania safaris to the southern circuit of the country and after working at this for over 5 years now offer safaris to the whole of Tanzania.
Sustainability
We believe sustainable tourism works hand in hand with responsible tourism. As a safari and tour operator, we are accountable for what we do and promote throughout Tanzania. Waterbuck Safaris was founded on the principles of environmental integrity, social justice and economic development. This holds true for staff, places we visit, and the different people and animals we interact with.
All of our staffs and guides are locals in order to promote local job availability and growth and we cover the costs for all training at official institutions. We participate with local businesses and buy locally produced goods both in Dar and on tour to support local economies. We are cautious to work with environmentally conscious businesses. Through our connections and partnerships we have cultural and historical tours in Southern Tanzania and we intend to add more cultural tours in the future.
Meet the Team
We are a team of locals born and brought up in Dar. Our destination consists of a wide variety of activities such as wildlife, historical & cultural towns and white and clean beaches. The city boasts an atmosphere of tranquillity, friendly people and lively neighbourhoods. It's a wonderful place to spend time due to the attractive colonial architecture, labyrinthine streets, reasonable restaurants and vivacious markets which make for adequately diverting entertainment.
We love travelling, wildlife and nature. Our country has a variety of natural landscapes like mountains, lakes, rivers, savannah and forests. The country also has number of tribes, each possessing its own distinctive culture and tradition. When we aren't busy working you'll likely spot us at one of Dar's enchanting, white beaches, reading books, playing soccer and table tennis or watching movies.
