Selous Game Reserve Tented Camp - 3 days
In 1982, Selous Game Reserve was nominated by the United Nations to become a UNESCO "World Heritage Site" due to its ecology.
From the coast extending to the south of Tanzania, Selous Game Reserve is the biggest reserve in Africa. Selous is larger than the country Denmark! The reserve is in the south of Mikumi, which covers 6% of Tanzania's surface area. It is 4 times the size of the Serengeti.
Selous Game Reserve is one of the famous reserves in Africa with remarkable and splendid wildlife and scenery. The animals seen in the reserve are: sable antelope, hippo, lion, buffalo, rhino and elephant. It also has a large and vibrant birdlife of about 400 species including hammerkop, sunbird, hornbill, fisheagle, billstork, secretary bird and kingfisher.
Selous Game Reserve is not a heavily explored area in Africa with an untouched forest area. Over 1600 plant species have been discovered in the Selous area. Due to the Selous' thick, inaccessible forest and River Rufiji, it has become the best shelter for all types of animals, birds and reptiles.
