Ruaha National Park (Outside Park) Budget - 4 days
The park covers 12,950 square kilometers with a big area of dry savanna. It is home to more than 10,000 elephants. The forest contains Miombo woodlands, Acacia woodlands, Riverine forests and Terminalia scrub. Ruaha and Rungwa areas are home to 450 bird species.
Ruaha National Park is home to vast number of animal such as elephants, leopard buffalos, lions and cheetahs. There are also crocodiles, turtles, hippos inhabit the Ruaha River, sables and roan antelopes and wild dogs. Animals that live in the grasslands are grant's gazelle and the tiny dik-diks.
The road from Dar es Salaam to Iringa Town is tarmac but the roads to and inside the park are not good because they require a 4-wheel drive. It is 10 hours away from Dar es Salaam.
Day 1: Dar es Salaam - Iringa
- Pick up from DSM city center hotel or residence
- Proceed to Iringa.
- Overnight at Wilolesi Lodge.
Day 2: Game Drive in Ruaha National Park
- After early breakfast, depart to Ruaha National Park for Game drive with picnic lunch.
- Dinner and overnight at the Lodge in the park (B,L,D).
Day 3: Game Drive in Ruaha National Park
- After breakfast, Game drive in Ruaha National Park
- Later proceed to Iringa with picnic lunch.
- Overnight at Wilolesi Lodge.
Day 4: Iringa - Dar es salaam
- After breakfast, start the journey back to DSM.
